Loch Lomond and the Trossachs area of Central Scotland boasts a wide selection of great golf courses and golf clubs to suit all abilities.
Scotland experiences a year round golfing climate and throughout the summer months, the daylight hours last from around 5 am until about 10 pm at night. You can often play a round of golf in Scotland before breakfast or well into the evening.
Loch Lomond and surrounding area offers great golf with fabulous scenery. The cost of a round of golf can vary from under £5.00 to over £50.00 depending on where and when you play. It is always best to contact the club you would like to play to confirm play times etc.
Loch Lomond Golf Club is well known for previously hosting the Scottish Open in July each year, and attracts golf enthusiasts from all over the world. While you might need to be on a long waiting list or know a member to play at Loch Lomond Golf Club, the Cameron House Hotel recently built a new and equally worthwhile course - the Carrick, which was completed in 2007.
Around Loch Lomond, the Trossachs and Central Scotland, there are some fantastic wee gems to suit all abilities, tastes and pockets.

Buchanan Castle was established in 1936 and is owned by the Duke of Montrose. It is a lush parkland course offering mountains, river and forest near the shores of Loch Lomond. It is a stunningly beautiful parkland course a place you will remember with affection. It is only a few miles off the direct route from the city to the famous attractions of the Trossachs and is perfectly served by the lovely village of Drymen. Visitors are advised to book in advance.

Founded in 1907 from its original roots in the Scotstoun area of Glasgow, Balmore Golf Club has grown to become one of the most renowned golf courses in the west of Scotland. Designed by James Braid, the course boasts some of the most demanding holes to be found in the area. Set in stunning countryside, it is difficult to imagine that the cosmopolitan city of Glasgow lies only 7 miles to the south west.
Stirling Golf Club lies on a tilted slab of ancient volcanic lava in full view of historic Stirling Castle. Once a favoured hunting ground of Scottish monarchs, this ground has been known for centuries as the Kings Park. The course was redesigned by the great Henry Cotton in 1966 and offers some of the finest views in Scotland, covering the Forth Valley and the local mountains of the Trossachs, a national park. The magnificent Stirling Castle dominates the whole scene.

Founded in 1895 on its present site at the juncture of the Highlands and the Lowlands, Milngavie Golf Club lies in secluded woodlands yet is only 7 miles from Glasgow city centre. Players enjoy magnificent vistas from Ben Lomond to the north and much of Central Scotland to the east.

Lochgilphead Golf Course is a picturesque course set in the hills of Mid Argyll. Designed by Dr I. McCammond the course offers a variety of challenges and as such is an excellent test of golf. If you play during the week then no booking is required although the number of tee times available at the weekend is varied. Clubhouse facilities include changing rooms and refreshments during the week, with a licensed bar open at the weekends.
The Vale of Leven Golf Club was formed in 1907 and the course is situated on the east side of the valley overlooking the surrounding area with some tremendous views of Loch Lomond and Ben Lomond. From the highest point of the course the view extends as far as Dumbarton Rock and the Clyde estuary..
Clober, although a short course, requires skill in chipping to play it well with eight par-3s. The signature hole is a par 3 with out of bounds both left and right and a burn flowing in front of the tee.
Helensburgh Golf Club was founded in August 1893 with an original layout that was approved by Old Tom Morris, and extended in 1905 to 18 holes. James Braid visited Helensburgh in the 1920's setting out several bunkers, which still catch out the golfers of today.
