Improvements at Tom Weir's Rest

Since it's unveiling eight months ago, the statue commemorating the life of Scotland's countryside legend, Tom Weir  at Balmaha Bay on the eastern shore of Loch Lomond has proved a great success and attracted around 60,000 UK and overseas visitors.

Improvements at Tom Weir's Rest are well underway including widening the pavement link to the site, building more attractive stone walling, renewing picnic tables and installing 6 memorial benches. Tom Weir, a long time resident of Gartocharn hosted the popular television programme Weir's Way on STV highlighting walks throughout the Highlands of Scotland. Read More
